Cancellation of 2021 IBRO-ICPBR Summer School

Dear applicants,

Thank you for your interest in the IBRO-ICPBR Summer School of Primate Neurobiology.

We did hope that this summer school could be opened as scheduled. However, the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic makes this very unlikely, in view of the travel restrictions in all countries. With the agreement of IBRO, we hereby to formally inform you that the Summer School is CANCELLED for 2021.

We will be planning for the IBRO/ICPBR Summer School in the next year depending on the pandemic situation. We will announce the program on the website (http://www.cebsit.cas.cn/ibro/) if the summer school can be held as scheduled for 2022.

Sincerely yours,

Organizing Committee for the IBRO/ICPBR Summer School on Primate Neurobiology

Introduction of 2022 IBRO-ICPBR Summer School

2022 Summer School of Primate Neurobiology will be held in the International Center for Primate Brain Research (ICPBR) affiliated with Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology (CEBSIT) / Institute of Neuroscience (ION), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, and jointly sponsored by IBRO and ICPBR. The goal of this school is to provide introductory lectures to international young investigators (mainly graduate students and post-doctoral fellows) on recent advances in the science and technology related to non-human primate research, with relevance to the understanding of human brain functions and disorders. A portion of the students will be exposed to laboratory experience by participating in the two-month internship associated with CEBSIT / ION labs.

The Summer School consist of two parts: Lectures and Tutorials (7 days) and Internship (two months). The lectures (mornings) will be given by distinguished researchers in the field of primate neurobiology, with full participation of students in the tutorials (afternoons) provided by faculty and teaching assistants. For lectures and tutorials, 30 students will be selected from the applicants. A small number of students (8-10 students) will also be accepted for internships in ION/ICPBR laboratories for participation in laboratory projects and exercises for a duration of two months.

The Summer School will cover the accepted applicants’ travel costs (economy class), accommodations and meals in Shanghai. The other costs will be taken care of by the applicants. We strongly suggest the applicants to purchase insurances in advance.

The Summer School applicants should not be CEBSIT / ION members. We encourage CEBSIT / ION members to attend the lectures and volunteer to be the TA.
